Another Split In Afghan Jamat

#46 - 0--admin--Another Split In Afghan Jamat--2008-03-23 08:31:31

#Sayed Mansur, the leader of the Mansuri group failed to advance honesty in his words he had given to the jamat that he would cast his caliber in the socio-economical welfare of the Afghan jamat soon after his appointment. He is also said to have misused his authority and embezzled in the tithe. The elders of the jamat advised him that he should maintain a account-book of the tithe and deposit in a bank, and deliver the ac*****ulated amount to Chhotu Lakhani, but he ignored their advices. It cultivated a dispute between the two parties, and nearly 200 families, supporting Ramzan Ashuri and others quitted the group of Sayed Mansur, and built separate Jamatkhana at Sabaka Tehmani, Kabul in 1976, which came to be known as the Jamatkhana-i Jadid (new jamatkhana). It means that there were three groups among the Afghan jamat in 1976, viz. the Naderi of Sayed Nadir Khan, the Mansuri of Sayed Mansur and the Ashuri of Ramzan Ashuri and others.

The deviated group formed a committee to execute the affairs of the jamat. It consisted of educated, experienced and elder persons same as in the committees of Mashhad and Tehran Iran. The committee was comprised of Ramzan Ashuri and other elders, who claimed to have administered following factors:- -
  1. Selected 14 members with a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and a Secretary. It almost resembled the Ismailia council. Each member rendered honorary services.

  2. Set up a cooperative fund for the economical welfare of the jamat. The total number of its share was 72; each shareholder was to invest 5000 Afghanis (or US$. 125/-). The total investment of the fund rose to $. 9000/- when Afghanistan became victim of communist regime in 1979, they wound up their activities. When the regime collapsed in 1979, its turn over reached to $. 40,000/-

  3. The account of the tithe was maintained separately.

  4. Introduction of the ab-e shafa and nandi on each Friday and other festive occasions. No such rites were introduced ever by the group of Sayed Nasir Naderi. Sayed Mansur however followed it in 1990.

  5. Introduction of chandraat majalis and tasbih of Bibi Fatima on every three months for the first time in Afghan Jamat.

  6. Attendance of the women started for the first time in the Jamatkhana, especially during the Birthday of Imam, Imamate Day and on the day when one died. When Kabul came under the hold of the Taliban, the admission of the women was restricted.

  7. Set up a religious center to teach Dua with its meaning to the children and the qasida and other basic articles and principles of Islam.

  8. Started a class for reciting Holy Koran for boys and girls.
